Abstract

The Post-Keynesian economic approach presents a heterodox theoretical framework aimed at updating classical Keynesian views to provide solutions to modern economic issues. The theory argues that when the free market mechanism is left to its own devices, it deepens inequalities, undermines social justice, and leads to crises. Therefore, it proposes policies that prioritize the active intervention of the state in the market, justice in income distribution, and full employment. Environmental issues, its emphasis on public welfare, the impact of financial markets on income distribution, the focus on tax justice, the ability to foresee crises and the solutions brought forth afterward, commonalities with feminist thought, sensitivities to social issues, and even criticisms of neo-classical, capitalist, and neo-liberal policies, as well as the differences and alternatives it offers, are also very important.

The importance of which areas the theory should be updated according to its historical evolution, its future, new interests and collaborations with other heterodox economics schools in common areas is another research topic and a new field of study.
