Abstract

Social movements are communities that come together in certain social institution stoprovide change ortoe stablish a new order. The historical period in which these movements have emerged needs to be examined well. They are closely related to the historical period. Considering the social movements, we can say that there ligion factor plays a part in this structure if we consider that many important factors constitute an important structure of social changeand that it manifests it self in the environment of change. Accordingly, social movements in religious movement spoint to a specialway. Social scientists thought that in the nineteenth century the effect of religion on society was diminishing. As a result of the conditions of the modernera, the indifferent attitudes of the people to the dyne in the new era have be gunto be neglected. Religion has been removed from all institutions. It is thought that in the new World order religion can not answer this plan. New religious movements have emerged to fill the spiritual gap in society and have attracted mostly young people. These religious groups, which emerged during this period, attracted attention and the researchers focused on this issue. In the formation of these religious movements, each researcher made different interpretations and evaluations. In thisstudy, theconcept of "SocialMovement", which is a preparation for the new religious movements, was briefly emphasized. Then, attemptsto define new religious movements, characteristics, emergence and development process will be evaluated and evaluated.
