Abstract

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological disorder manifested by specific symptoms that can occur when an individual encounters or witnesses a real threat of death, severe injury, or a situation that threatens the physical integrity of an individual. The causes of PTSD are quite complicated and environmental or personal factors play a role as well as traumatic experiences. These include characteristics of trauma such as gender, age, genetic predisposition, personality traits and social support, factors such as the type, severity and duration of trauma, support received after trauma and personal coping skills Dec. Symptoms of this disorder include recurrent nightmares, overstimulation, emotional dullness, and avoidance of stressors. Dec. These symptoms negatively affect a person's functionality, relationships and quality of life, and PTSD is diagnosed when the symptoms of the symptoms have persisted for at least six months. The treatment of PTSD may include combinations of different methods, such as psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. Pharmacotherapy can help manage symptoms, but it should not be used as a stand-alone treatment. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on improving a person's ability to manage their post-traumatic symptoms, while eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can help reduce the impact of traumatic memories. The treatment plan is determined according to the individual's needs, symptom severity and preferences, it is specific to the individual. The effects of PTSD can seriously affect an individual's quality of life. Therefore, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are important. It is also important to raise awareness about PTSD in society and facilitate access to supportive resources. If these improvements are provided, it can contribute to individuals with PTSD having a better quality of life, receiving the necessary support and improving their recovery processes. In this study, a review of the literature and a general review of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the stress caused by this disorder were aimed.
